CSC 10 VISITS ROYAL BRUNEI AIR FORCE

RIMBA, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 – Course participants of the Command and Staff Course 10/2020 visited the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Rimba Air Base today. The delegation was led by Lieutenant Colonel (U) Peter bin Ulat, Directing Staff 1 of Command and Staff College, Defence Academy.

The course participants were received at the Rimba Air Base Air Movement Centre (AMC) and briefed by Yang Mulia Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Hamzah bin Hj Sahat, Commander of RBAirF. In his brief on the Future of the RBAirF, Yang Mulia Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Hamzah highlighted the increasing significance and utility of the RBAirF during peace and operations. Yang Mulia Dato also highlighted the foreseeable challenges faced by the RBAirF in the near future, and the corresponding force development priorities of the RBAirF to meet these challenges. On this, Yang Mulia Dato shared that the RBAirF was considering force development plans that would effectively meet both current and longer-term operational needs. Yang Mulia Dato also highlighted that the RBAirF had recently updated its Shaping Tomorrow’s Air Force 2020 (STAF20) plan, to take into account its latest approach towards the RBAirF’s force development.

Following the briefing, the delegation visited a static display of the RBAirF’s assets, which included a display of parachute equipment, the Mistral Man-portable air defense missile system, the Bolkow 105 Helicopter, and the S-70i Black Hawk helicopter.

The visit was professionally beneficial for the course participants, and provided them with a clear understanding of the role, capabilities, and future prospects of the RBAirF.
