KAMPONG TANAH JAMBU, Friday 23 November 2018 – The Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) celebrated its 8th anniversary with a parade today, comprising of all DA RBAF personnel inclusive of Officer Cadets Intake 17 and course participants of Junior Staff Course 2018 which is currently ongoing.
The arrival of the Guest of Honor, Lieutenant Colonel Suriyati binti Haji Junaidi, the acting Commandant of the DA RBAF was welcomed by the Chairperson of this year’s event, Major (U) Pg Hj Md Yusri bin Pg Hj Sharifuddin. The parade commander, Major Dk Nur Izzah Nazurah binti Pg Hj Mohammad then reported and accompanied the Acting Commandant to inspect the parade.
The Guest of Honor then delivered her speech where she highlighted the journey of the DA RBAF and its achievments throughout the years. Among the achievements were the bilateral exercises conducted with Officer Cadets SAFTI MI and New Zealand. Leadership and Management Centre also continued to progress by collaborating with the Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst in the delivery of Leadership Workshop and for the first time with the University Technology Brunei in the delivery of Teambuilding events for Middle Management and Senior Government Officers Executive Development Programme for the civil service. Meanwhile, an officer from Saudi Arabia attended the Command and Staff College as an additional member of international course participants. Additionally just recently, the Australian Government has awarded Oboe Endeavour Award to six RBAF officers who have graduated with outstanding results during Command and Staff Course.
Soon after the parade, the Guest of Honour and DA RBAF officers and personnel then moved to the Ceremonial hall. Also present at the Ceremonial Hall was the Commandant of DA RBAF, Colonel Saiful-Akhmar bin Haj Mohd Shariff. The anniversary event then continued with a cake-cutting by the Commandant and the Acting Commandat of DA RBAF, followed by a luncheon.
