TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 30 November 2018 - Sixty officers completed the Junior Staff Course (JSC) 2018 at the Defence Academy of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) today. The course comprised of 52 local officers from the RBAF, 1 officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and 7 military officer from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Present as the Guest of Honour was First Admiral Pg Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pg Haji Muhammad, the Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN). Also present at the ceremony were Military Directors, Deputy Services Commanders, Deputy Director of the Crime Investigation Department of RBPF, Defence Attachés / Advisers from respective countries, and senior officers from the RBAF and Defence Academy RBAF.

The 14-weeks course began on 27 August 2018 until 30 November 2018. The course was provided for mid-level officers in their career development progression as general staff officers and aimed to develop their professional knowledge skills, particularly on leadership and management, strategic phase studies, communication and presentation skills, as well as, Joint Operations Planning at tri-service level. The course also included visits to local ministries which gave them insights on their contributions, goals and initiatives towards achieving the national Wawasan 2035.

The ceremony ended with the certificates and awards presentation presented by the Guest of Honour. The ‘Overall Best Student Award’ was given to Captain P Skandan from Singapore. Captain P Skandan from Singapore for ‘Best Research Essay Award’ and 839 Captain Mahmud Afifi bin Mohd Kifli from Directorate of Intelligence for ‘Best Service Paper Award’ which served as achievement and recognition for these students’ diligent efforts.
