Monday 20 May 2019 - Intermediate Staff Course 19/2019 conducted its local Study Tour today to different ministries and agencies as part of the course programme. The Study Tour will take place for four days which starts today until Friday, 24 May 2019. The theme of this year’s Study Tour is Brunei Vision 2035, which focuses on Goal 3 - Dynamic and Sustainable Economy. The delegation was led by Lieutenant Colonel (U) Muhammad Amiruddin bin Hj Tuah, Head of Leadership and Management Centre, Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (HLMC).
The visit was made to the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE) which includes briefings from the Director of Strategic Management Office (MOFE), Foreign Direct Investment Executive Officer of Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and Director Department of Planning, Economic Planning and Development (DEPD). The briefing highlighted the theme of investing in our future and further highlighted the significance of increasing investment opportunities as well as diversification of the economy through innovation, digitalisation and fair governance.
The visit then continued to the Design and Technology Building, Anggerek Desa Technology Hub for separate briefings by the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI) and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe). Both briefings had placed an emphasis on the ministry’s effort towards Brunei Vision 2035 by diversifying Brunei Darussalam’s Economy, creating local capable manpower and enabling the local MSMEs to thrive. MEMI focuses on developing manpower to ensure that there is industry ready workforce whereas DARe provides assistance to the MSMEs for them to develop into a competitive business that drives Brunei economy. The visit also focuses on the vision of DARe, to build enterprises into dynamic and resilient drivers of economic growth in line with Brunei Vision 2035 goal number 3, towards a dynamic and sustainable economy.
The Study Tour aims to introduce the ISC 19/2019 to the stakeholders in both government and non-governmental sectors responsible for implementing services, to examine their roles towards achieving vision 2035 and to understand challenges faced by these institutions.
As an appreciation, presentation of mementos from the HLMC and the cohort leader of ISC 19/2019 to the representative of each institution took place before concluded with a group photo.
